SCHOOL COUNSELORS
School counselors work with all students to support their social-emotional, academic, and career development. While this may look different at the elementary and secondary levels, school counselors help all students through counseling curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support.
School counselors can help to meet the needs of students through:
Teachers or parents/guardians can request for a school counselor to meet with their student. Students can also make a request to meet with their school counselor.
Confidentiality
Trust and confidentiality work together. Students and parents must trust the school counselor to feel comfortable entering into meaningful and honest dialogue. Information shared will not become a part of the student's permanent record and will not be shared with others except as legally required.

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKERS
School Social Workers help connect and coordinate services between family and community resources as a way to eliminate barriers that make it difficult for students to attend and/or be successful at school. They assist students and their families by providing education, resources, and mental health services. If a family is in need of immediate assistance, school social workers can also help with emergent needs in regards to health, hunger, and hygiene. They will also provide ongoing support to families by communicating with them regularly to ensure their basic needs are met. The goal of this service is to help families access community resources and reach sustainability.
